Season 9 Bug Report/Feedback Thread

Post by taylork2 » Thu Aug 15, 2019 1:06 am

Creating this as a combination of bug reports and feedback, since some mechanics have been changed drastically enough that new features or some changes could be mistaken as glitches, and would therefore be more appropriate for feedback.

The first is that the improved machete no longer deals half overflow damage(or if it does, this damage will not kill zombies). I've saved 2 clips demonstrating this change/glitch.

Second, even from early on, groups of 3-4 zombies(4 zombies the vast majority of the time) will surround the starting hideout and tents beginning as early as at least day 2. I have very rarely seen smaller groups, but I can only say with confidence I saw of group of only 2 zombies appear at around day 4/5. While maybe intentional, it indirectly nerfs sleeping, as sleeping for significant periods of time will often result in 8-12 zombies surrounding you, and you/pets taking relatively high amounts of damage relatively early on in the game, incentivizing you to only keep 1/2 pets at a time and to avoid using hideouts for anything more than storage and crafting.

Ordinary Guy/Gal are not playable in Hardcore(might be intentional, but would be nice to be able to play them in hardcore).

That is indeed intentional; the guy/gal have never been playable in hardcore. The premium version of this these professions (the first class citizen) is also not playable in hardcore.

This sounds like a configuration error; I will check this and fix it with the next update.

As for the amount of zombies blocking the hideouts, I am already monitoring this problem; this seems to be a bug, but I'm not yet sure where it comes from.

Using a flashlight in darkness will only effect your chance of finding objects, will not effect the chances for Dogs/Mice, making them pretty much useless during night.

Putting flashlights in the inventory of dogs doesn't give them the enlightenment effect.

Dogs can fight while sleeping if zombies break into the hideout. In this situation I was also sleeping inside the hideout.
The dog fought and killed all the zombies, winning the battle, but still died(likely due to insta-death due to sleep). But the battle still occurred.

This is intentional; animals can't use flashlights.

This, however, is a bug; they should be affected if YOU use a flashlight.

That is also a bug, of course.

I'll fix that with the next update, probably during the weekend.

The sharpened machete doesn't deal half overflow either, but the regular water gun still deals 1/2 overflow.

Heyo, back with a small report regarding the bugs you've found. I didn't upload the patch to the server yet, but it's coming later today.

The Flashlight and dogs-fighting-while-asleep bugs are fixed.

I looked into the missing overflow damage for machetes; turns out, this was an intentional change back at the beginning of Season 8. Machetes didn't do any overflow damage since then. In fact, no weapon does half overflow damage any more - they either do full overflow, or no overflow at all.

I've also managed to find the reason why zombies were aggressively blocking hideouts; turns out, it wasn't a bug in the GAME, but instead in my administration system that I use to adjust balancing parameters. Basically, it was SHOWING the correct balancing settings for zombie spawns that I intended, but actually USING wrong ones - resulting in the extremely high spawn rates for blocking zombies.

I've fixed that, and adjusted the balancing settings to the values they were supposed to have in the first place.

Ah. so machetes don't deal any overflow damage anymore, fuck.

Okay good to know.
Good to hear about the rest of the changes. Thanks Brainbox.
