Will this game be here, when die2nite shutsdown?
When die2nite shutsdown one day. Will zombvival still be online?
Re: Will this game be here, when die2nite shutsdown?
The most simple answer to your question would be "yes".
ZombVival can continue to operate mostly without Die2Nite, however some functions would initially be limited. Without D2N, you couldn't
The bigger problem would be that I'm making extensive use of assets and other intellectual property of Motion Twin. Being a fan-game for D2N, doing so is tolerated by Motion Twin. D2N going down, however, could potentially change that. If, as a result of D2N shutting down, Motion Twin would aks me to remove these assets or pay for them, I would have no choice but shutting down ZombVival as well.

- Create a new ZV account
- Log in to your account on a new device without having another device with you that has been used to log in in the past
- Play the Townships! mode (obviously)

So do yoy plan to shutdown zombvival and start a new game? I don't want to sound rude but if you plan to shutdown the game completely when d2n goes down. Then just give me the source code.
Re: Will this game be here, when die2nite shutsdown?
IF D2N goes down, I'll continue to operate ZombVival as normal until Motion Twin (or their lawyers) tell me to do otherwise.
If that happens, I'll release the ZombVival Source Code and slap a BSD license on it, so anyone can do whatever they want with it.

Thanks BrainBox. At least i can now the game will still be there in a way.
Re: Will this game be here, when die2nite shutsdown?
Hopefully it'll never come to that.
Although, I'm glad this game can live on no matter what.

But what about hiring or finding an artist from the fanbase to redraw everything, Brainbox?
Also, i don`t know how they can stop you from supporting it. You don`t (oficially) make money from the game.

They can't technically stop me to work on the game, but they CAN send my hosting provider a message complaining about their copyright-protected assets being stored on my webspace, and within a couple of minutes, ZombVival would be gone.

won't the easy solution be removing/replacing copyright materials such as artwork and item names?
i'm pretty sure redrawing all the objects is no easy task for one person but im also sure theres people willing to help for free.
Spoiler alert: me

I'm always happy to get some fan art; there already is some of that in the game, e.g. the bike helmet.
So if you'd like to do some art, you're very welcome!
